The Keene State College men’s and women’s track and field teams traveled to Plymouth State University this weekend for the Little East Conference (LEC) championship.
The women’s team placed fourth overall and second amongst LEC schools, while the men placed eighth overall and fourth among LEC schools.
On the men’s side, the only winner of the day was Jared Hannon, who placed first in the long jump with a jump of 6.53 meters. Hannon’s performance landed him a spot in the New England Division III Championships.
Phil Parent and Mark Rabasco placed second and fourth respectively in the event of 5,000 meters. Parent finished in 15:38.98 while Rabasco came in at 15:52.02.
The Owls also finished second in the men’s 4X400 meter relay. The relay team, which consisted of Jared Hannon, Eric Dietz, Quentin Bazarnicki and Devin Sanford, finished in 3:31.40.
The women had a few more top finishes, including two first-place results for Lindsay Szuch. Szuch ran the 5,000 meters in 18:49.70, which was almost a full minute quicker than the next best runner. Szuch also won the 3,000 meters event in 11:04.29 to place first. Szuch will be heading to the New England Division III Championships for the 5,000 meter event.
The women also brought home a first-place finish in the 4X800 meter relay, as a team consisting of Lauren Markoe, Brittany Gravallese, Allison Brady and Alyssa Lombardi finished 25 seconds quicker than the next best time at 10:11.06.
The final first-place finish for the Owls came from Karisa Bergman. Bergman won the weight throw with a 13.83 meter toss and will be headed to the New England Division III Championships to compete in the event. Bergman also placed second in shotput.
